Inspire Farms

At 206 E Main St, Mesa, AZ 85201, Inspire Farms is a hub for fresh, healthy food, specializing in live chickens.  They sell a wide variety of products including eggs, meat, and interesting gift options like soaps and lotions.

Owner Tiffiny Lilley explained how the business came to be: “I was homeschooling my children, and I thought ‘Well let’s get chickens, what a great educational lesson!’ I wanted to feed my chickens the best possible feed that I could so that I could get the best possible eggs for my family.  So I started working with Modesto Milling for organic feed, and here I am now with a store where you can just walk in and pick it up whenever you need it!

They started out just selling feed, but  Inspire Farms has expanded to include a wide range of products reaching more people than just chicken owners.  “When we started with the feed, we realized that there was another audience that we were missing, and that’s the people who don’t have chicken or can’t have chickens,” Tiffiny said.  “Half of our audience are backyard chicken farmers, the other half live in an apartment or HOA where they can’t have chicken but they still want the benefits-  the healthy eggs, the healthy meat, or the healthy milk that comes from the local farms.  So we try to bring in products to meet both needs.”

They have raw dairy products arrive every Friday, so shoppers can enjoy fresh milk and cream.  Inspire Farms also sells locally raised,  corn and soy-free eggs,  (Including duck and quail), beef, lamb, chicken, and pork.  Tiffiny explained why they don’t sell corn-based feed.  “Corn is known for heating up the body. In the summertime, you really don’t want to feed your animals corn, it’s just going to make them hotter.”

“Our tagline is ‘Happy, Healthy, Organic,'” Tiffiny said.  “Basically what that means is that all the products in the store need meet at least one of those criteria.”

Art and murals play into this.  “I’m also an artist, and I often paint chickens,” said Tiffiny.  “I paint other things too, but the idea behind it is happiness.”  She painted all the artwork that can be seen at the store.

Inspire Farms brings in new chicks every week.  “Occasionally we will have other animals,” said Tiffiny.  “Sometimes rabbits will come through, sometimes ducks will come through, and we also re-home other animals occasionally. Cats and dogs sometimes need to find a home too.”

“The chicks are really what we specialize in,”  she explained.  “The chicken feed is organic corn-free and soy-free, but we also have rabbit food, quail food, game bird food, and livestock food.”  Inspire Farms sells all the equipment to raise the chicks to adulthood, providing convenience for their customers.

In addition to quality products, Inspire Farms offers free poultry showing classes each month.  They have an art studio in the store, that people can rent to teach their skills to the community.

“We’re always looking for new local vendors especially those that provide food,” Tiffiny said .  “And we are always looking for enthusiastic and positive staff members.”

So if you or someone you know are looking for chickens or high quality, locally sourced food, check out Inspire Farms!
