Embracing Tradition: The Salvage Co. Brings Mexican-Inspired Rustic Charm to Arizona

Nestled amidst the vibrant streets of Arizona lies a treasure trove of Mexican-inspired rustic furniture and decor: The Salvage Co. Founded by a passionate family with deep roots in vintage and antique furniture, this quaint shop is more than just a place to purchase home furnishings; it’s a testament to heritage, craftsmanship, and community.

“It all started with my mom’s love for vintage and antique furniture,” shares Rich Helmer, co-owner of The Salvage Co. “Our home was adorned with these timeless pieces, including Mexican-inspired decor that added a touch of warmth and character.”

What sets The Salvage Co. apart is its dedication to authenticity. Utilizing 80-100-year-old reclaimed wood sourced from Chihuahua, Mexico, the furniture here tells stories of generations past. “Our materials come from Mexico, with the exception of cowhides, which are sourced from Brazil,” explains the family.

In a market dominated by big-box retailers, The Salvage Co. stands firm, prioritizing quality over quantity. “We might not have the quantity, but we certainly have the best products,” they affirm. Despite fierce competition on price, their commitment to superior craftsmanship and unique offerings keeps customers coming back.

Venturing into the heart of Mexico to handpick their products initially, The Salvage Co. has fostered strong relationships with vendors over the years. “Nowadays, we rarely have supply issues,” they proudly state.

Their showroom boasts an array of treasures, from talavera and colorful terracotta pots to unique wall decor. Participating in events like the Phoenix Home Show and vintage shows, they bring their curated collection directly to customers.

While they offer limited custom design options, The Salvage Co. emphasizes the artistry inherent in each piece. “Most items are artwork in themselves, and we leave that up to the artists,” they explain.

Sustainability is paramount, with all wood sourced from reclaimed sources and a commitment to using only solid, durable materials. “We don’t compromise on quality,” they affirm, ensuring that every piece is built to last a lifetime.

Looking ahead, The Salvage Co. eyes expansion into the Las Vegas market, eager to share their passion for Mexican culture and craftsmanship with a broader audience.

But beyond business aspirations, their ultimate goal is to create an experience—a space where customers can immerse themselves in Mexican culture and feel the positive energy it brings. “We want people to come in, see, touch, and feel our products,” they express, advocating for a return to retail and supporting local businesses.

As they continue to weave the tapestry of tradition and community, The Salvage Co. invites Arizonans to embrace the beauty of rustic charm and join them on a journey of cultural discovery—one furniture piece at a time.
